Stockholm - Scandinavian style apartment

Modern Scandinavian countries, led by prosperous Sweden, have long since broken the stereotypes that Scandinavia are Vikings in bear skins and helmets with horns. Features of the Scandinavian style when decorating the interior are copied around the world. And there are several reasons for this:

• Scandinavian style is popular due to its refined conciseness;
• thanks to the play of light, you can feel the feeling of spaciousness even in a one-room apartment;
• the canons of style are not so diverse, but understandable and simple for self-registration of the home;
• Thanks to the Scandinavian style, you can create incredible harmony within the simplicity of everyday life.

The severity of the Scandinavian climate did not allow residents to fully enjoy the sunlight, and they found a way to reflect the heat in their own homes. Consider one of the design projects for an apartment located in Stockholm, on the example of which you can see the basic principles of housing design in the Scandinavian countries.

Scandinavian style is always the maximum of light. Spacious rooms with high ceilings and large windows are literally immersed in the sun, reflected from the snow-white finish of almost all surfaces. Our compatriots can easily get used to the white shades of the ceiling and walls, but the Scandinavians prefer to use light wood or paint it in bright colors for flooring.

The result is a monophonic snow-white fill from floor to ceiling, creating a feeling of solidity of the room. Such monochrome should be diluted with contrasting accents. But the Scandinavian style in this matter has clear boundaries - two, maximum three colors, different from the white finish may be present in the design of residential premises. In a Stockholm apartment, shades of green and gray became such accents.

The blue-gray sofa, which became the center of the lounge area, furniture and decor in the color of light moss - as if reflecting the nature of Scandinavia - here are the dark waters of the Baltic Sea and scanty vegetation.

Snow-white walls need decor, various design techniques are used - from family photos in dark frames to works of modern fine art.

An excellent design move to tone the cool interior of the living room is to use living plants. Throughout the apartment you can find juicy greens placed in the original pots and pots with scuffs, in clay jugs and vases.

In the Scandinavian style interiors, it is rarely possible to find wall painting in any color other than white. If this happens, then neutral shades are used - sand, gray, pastel blue. Light gray walls of the bedroom combined with a snow-white ceiling, like fog descending in the middle of a snowy desert.

The Scandinavian style seeks to keep every ray of the sun penetrating into the rooms, so in the living rooms often the windows are not decorated at all or the finest snow-white tulle is used to design them. As for dormitory rooms, in which sometimes it is just necessary to isolate oneself from the sun's rays, curtains made of natural materials are used here - cotton and linen are a priority. Tulle is most often absent, so that when the curtains are open, the room is filled with as much sunlight as possible.

But the duration of daylight hours in the Scandinavian countries is small, so you need to take care of various sources of artificial lighting. Rarely in which room can you find only one lighting fixture. As a rule, a central chandelier is used to create a general atmosphere and provide the necessary level of illumination and several local sources, in the form of table lamps, floor lamps, less often - wall sconces.

If, contrary to the total use of metal-plastic windows, you decide to leave the wooden window frames and paint them white, like the doorways, then you can most accurately reproduce the features of the Scandinavian style.

For the textile design of a berth, natural materials are most often used. Cotton pastels and a woolen blanket on top are a perfect match. You can often find imitation of the skin of an animal as a bed decor, but it is important not to forget that almost all Europeans are against killing animals for fur, so the products must be artificial.

Scandinavians, like most Europeans, adore a rational approach to organizing the storage of clothes, shoes and accessories. Orderliness and comfort are the key to success in creating a modern storage system.

The kitchen space is not much different from the rest of the Swedish apartment, in terms of surface finishes. Only for the kitchen apron was chosen a finish different from the snow-white planes - an imitation of a concrete wall.

Snow-white surfaces, reflecting the abundance of sunlight, smooth out the nuances of the room, its asymmetry. The temperature differences inherent in kitchen spaces are not a hindrance for breeding indoor plants, you just need to choose the right species.

Scandinavian style is not characterized by a pile of furniture. All furniture items are usually presented in “light”-looking models, but this does not prevent them from meeting all the requirements of strength and reliability.
